Vision Integration Overview

SSI Robotics is and industrial automation and engineering firm skilled in the art of Machine Vision Integration.  We purchase the most suitable off-the-shelf vision equipment for each new application.  We perform the required lighting, vision system programming and vendor selection to provide turnkey machine vision solutions for our customers.  Our "Total Solution" systems generally include the necessary material handling equipment (conveyors, robotics, etc) for production, assembly, test and inspection applications.

Vision Guidance

SSI Robotics uses vision systems and frame grabbers for robot guidance.  Vision enables accurate pickup of parts from conveyors.  Vision guided pickup allows the use of flexible flat-belt conveyor feeders eliminating the need for tape feeders or custom vibratory bowls.  Vision also improves accuracy and flexibility in part placement.

 

Vision Inspection

The primary function for SSI Robotics’ vision systems is to perform part inspection in a production environment.  In some cases, vision systems may eliminate the need for human operators.  Vision inspection for improved Quality Assurance, Quality Control and Process Control are rapidly growing fields.  New low cost, full color machine vision systems can often be used to address these areas.  

In addition to in-house programming, we also work with third party vision and lighting firms for complex vision projects when the programming efforts exceeds 6 months of engineering / programming time.  In these cases, SSI acts as the prime contractor, remaining focused on the automation and complete system while our subcontractors perform the vision programming, lighting and integration.

We perform the required experiments in our vision lab to optimize the lighting conditions for each new application.  Illumination sources may include strobes, LEDs, backlights, light arrays, ring lights and custom lighting solutions.
